Mike Thaler has produced over 220 published books and is known as "America's Riddle King." He has also been called "The Court Jester of Children's Literature."
Mike has created many well-known and loved characters in children's literature. He was the creator of "The Letterman" for the PBS Electric Company series. Elementary teachers read about Mrs. Green from The Teacher from the Black Lagoon, and the rest of the Lagoon faculty in his expanding book series with Scholastic publishers. Bubba and Bumpo from the The Bully Brothers books and some of his retold fairy tales like Cinderella Bigfoot have won numerous "Children's Choice" awards. He has also published nearly fifty riddle books for children.
Mike’s new series Tales from the Back Pew takes young readers on a wild ride as they explore church activities through the eyes of hero Luke Bright. Children and parents will love Mike’s humorous storytelling and illustrator Jared Lee’s beautiful artwork.
Jared Lee was raised in Van Buren, Indiana. He received his BFA degree from the John Herron Art Institute located in Indianapolis. In 1970, after serving two years in the military and working one year at Gibson Greetings as a greeting cared designer, he started his free-lance career.
Jared’s work has been associated with US Postal Service, New York Telephone, L.L. Bean, Procter and Gamble, Ralston Purina, Land’s End, Bel South, Hasbro, Scholastic, Simon & Schuster, and Dutton Children’s Books, just to name a few. He is the illustrator for the Black Lagoon series (Scholastic) and Tales from the Back Pew (Zondervan).
He was one of the six illustrators chosen to create the first group of Happy meal boxes for McDonalds.
